Cosmetic Surgery > Face > Facial Contour
The facial contour is the lower part of the face at the border with the neck. To appear youthful, this contour must be as clean as possible, characterised by a complete absence of jowls, and contours perfectly defined by the mandible.
With the ageing process and skin laxity, following loss of skin tone, and simply under the effect of gravity, our facial contours change, they sag and loosen, leading to the formation of jowls.
The cervico-mental angle, i.e. the angle between the chin and the neck, opens. To be ideal, it should be as close to 80 degrees as possible. Of course, depending on individual anatomy, the insertion of the neck above the mandible varies. It is unrealistic to expect a perfect cervico-mental angle in someone who has always had, even in youth, a much more open angle.
If in addition a double chin appears, we are faced with one of the most frequent requests concerning the facial contour.
Very frequently, women lying down looking in the mirror realise their true request: erase the most visible signs of facial ageing.
Fortunately, modern cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine can offer a full range of solutions to meet patient demands. Solutions are very gradual, from the softest and most temporary to the most significant and long-lasting.
Dr Weiss will explain the technical feasibility according to your anatomical reality during the consultation, following a thorough clinical examination.
