Cosmetic Surgery > Body Contouring > Body Lift
For a comprehensive effect on the silhouette, we use the body lift. Its action eliminates the abdominal apron, love handles, lifts and shapes the buttocks to make your body more harmonious.
In most cases, the body lift is part of reconstructive surgery following the consequences of massive weight loss, whether from dieting or bariatric surgery.
Within the context of bariatric surgery sequelae, this procedure may be covered by the French social security system. It is a very major surgery, rarely performed in private clinics, as it frequently requires autotransfusion and extended hospitalisation.
The body lift combines, in one or two operative stages, abdominoplasty with buttock lift, creating a circumferential scar, hence the name circumferential dermolipectomy.
The procedure is performed on both women and men. It significantly improves active life, sexuality, daily hygiene, and greatly facilitates clothing choices. After this procedure, the patient greatly regains self-esteem.
The surgical technique is a synthesis of 2 procedures, abdominoplasty and buttock lift, requiring two operative positions: supine and prone. Post-operative recovery resembles that of abdominoplasty, complicated by posterior wound healing.
The 4 to 5-hour procedure may require, in very significant cases, pre-arranged autotransfusion, and remains a major surgical intervention.
Sequelae from massive weight loss may require additional surgical procedures at a later stage, such as thigh lift, brachioplasty or mastopexy.
Dr Weiss no longer performs this type of procedure given the cost and magnitude of this surgery within a private clinic setting.
