Surgery is not always the first answer to facial ageing. In many cases, aesthetic medicine techniques can achieve significant rejuvenation without setting foot in an operating theatre. Dr Weiss, a cosmetic surgeon based in Paris, practises both surgery and aesthetic medicine. This dual expertise allows him to advise each patient honestly on the best approach for their situation: sometimes non-surgical treatments are sufficient, sometimes surgery is needed. What matters is recommending the most appropriate solution, not the most dramatic one. Dr Weiss welcomes international patients and is happy to conduct consultations in English.
Botox (botulinum toxin) remains the most widely performed non-surgical anti-ageing treatment in the world, and for good reason: it delivers outstanding results in just a few minutes, with no social downtime. The principle is straightforward: by selectively relaxing the muscles responsible for expression lines, it smooths the forehead, softens the frown lines between the brows and diminishes crow's feet around the eyes.
Botox works exclusively on dynamic wrinkles — those that appear when you frown or squint. It does not treat skin laxity or volume loss. The effect becomes visible within 3 to 5 days and lasts approximately 4 to 6 months. The key to a natural result lies in the dosage and precision of the injection: the face must retain its capacity for expression. Dr Weiss always favours a subtle outcome — a smooth forehead rather than a frozen one, a relaxed gaze rather than an expressionless stare.
Where Botox treats expression lines, hyaluronic acid tackles a different aspect of ageing: volume loss and static wrinkles. It is a naturally occurring substance in our skin, injected in gel form to restore volume where it has diminished and to fill creases that have deepened.
The applications of hyaluronic acid are wide-ranging:
Hyaluronic acid is naturally absorbed within 12 to 18 months, depending on the area treated and the product used. For a more lasting volumetric result, Dr Weiss may suggest fat grafting (lipofilling), which uses the patient's own fat.
Chemical peels and dermabrasion target a third dimension of ageing: the quality of the skin surface itself. Over time, the skin loses its radiance, its texture changes, pigmentation spots appear and pores become enlarged. Peels — superficial, medium or deep, depending on the need — remove the outer layers of skin to stimulate cellular renewal.
The result is smoother, more luminous skin with a more even tone. Fine surface lines are softened, pigmentation fades and the overall texture is refined. Mechanical dermabrasion achieves comparable results by physically resurfacing the skin. The choice between a peel and dermabrasion depends on the nature of the imperfections to be treated and the patient's skin type.
One of Dr Weiss's core principles is honesty in his advice. Aesthetic medicine has its limits, and it is important to acknowledge them. No amount of Botox will correct drooping eyelids — only a blepharoplasty can do that. No filler will replace a cervico-facial facelift when the jawline has truly sagged and jowls have formed. Multiplying injections to compensate for sagging that only surgery can address often leads to an overfilled, unnatural face.
Dr Weiss prefers to tell each patient clearly what they need, even when the answer is surgery. Equally, he will never suggest a surgical procedure when aesthetic medicine can do the job. This honest, bespoke approach lies at the heart of his practice of "Complete Facial Rejuvenation".
In many cases, the best approach combines several techniques. A 45-year-old patient might benefit from Botox for the forehead, hyaluronic acid for the nasolabial folds and a peel for skin radiance — all without any surgery whatsoever. A 55-year-old with moderate sagging may be directed towards a mini-facelift complemented by Botox and targeted injections.
