The Key Role of the Pre-Operative Consultation

The most important thing to evaluate in a cosmetic surgeon is their professional competence. In most cases, the patient seeks to enhance their appearance and therefore their quality of life, rather than their health per se. The decision is entirely voluntary.

As such, the surgeon's skills and past experience are the only guarantees of the future result and the smooth running of all stages. For me, this requires at least two consultations prior to the procedure. Why two? Why does the consultation play such an important role?

The key role of the pre-operative consultation

The first step is to understand the patient's expectations. This allows me to know, for example, whether the patient correctly assesses their own concern and that they are not expecting a result that would not suit them (for example, excessively large breasts for a very slender figure).

Subsequent consultations allow, for example, any questions or concerns to be addressed and resolved before the surgery.

The most important thing for me is that the patient is certain of their decision before the operation. They then know the drawbacks, the details regarding recovery, and how long they should wait before seeing the final result of the procedure.

This approach is, for me, a guarantee that the patient will be satisfied.
